What I'm Listening To; Current Podcast Obsessions
I know this post may seem a bit off on the site, but bare with me and you'll soon understand. I know that people have really gotten into podcasts the past couple years, and although I was late to Serial, once I listened, I was hooked. Sadly, I didn't enjoy the second season at all, but....during the waiting period, I found other podcasts I really enjoy.
I'm typically always listening to something, whether it's music while I work, clean or drive, OR YouTube videos/podcasts, in the background. My boyfriend has mentioned that I don't even watch YouTube videos, why do I have them on? And it's simple, it's just something to listen to while I work. With that said, I've gotten bored with YouTube and needed something new to listen to.
Although it may seem a bit odd and random to share my favorite podcasts, it really isn't that off topic. Especially with 2 of the podcasts I'm sharing. I think that as of lately, people rather listen, then read, and that's why it's become so popular. Same with Audible. I want to start featuring other things that interest me and that I truly enjoy, and if it meshes with my website, even better. And let me just disclaim right now, like I previously said, 2 of the podcasts actually relate to my site.
But let's just jump right into and and have you listen and get to know my current top 3 podcast obsessions. Let's get started.
1. Live Planted
This is a recent discovery, I mean...only a couple weeks old in my routine, but it has immediately made it's way as number one! As the title suggests, Live Planted is about living a plant, vegan and cruelty free lifestyle. Of course I was into it from the moment I listened. My favorite episode, shared above, really focuses on cruelty free beauty and why it's so important. I also thoroughly enjoy that it's a conversation between people, and not just one person talking. Alyssa has vegan, cruelty free, plant based bloggers of all kinds, on the show. Her questions are intricate and well thought out.
I don't ever feel bored with the podcast and tend to always leave each episode feeling inspired and educated! II like that each week it's a different topic of discussion, and Alyssa focuses on the guest, and doesn't revolve the podcast on her, and her opinions. I am also a huge fan of her questions, as I feel they are extremely well developed and not your typical, boring questions, you often read in magazines. If Alyssa reads this, who's someone you'd like to be a guest on the show?
2. Fat Mascara
Thanks to my friend Mullica, who's been featured on my site, I've been in love with this podcast for about a year now. You have 2 beauty editors from well known magazines, Teen Vogue and Marie Claire, who bring you lots and lots of beauty talk. So of course I'm obsessed. I feel that we are at a time where all we hear and see, is biased reviews and recommendations from beauty bloggers. With Fat Mascara, you have ladies that breath, eat, sleep all things beauty and have beauty industry guests on a weekly basis. From makeup creators, to the actual director, Kim Paschen, of Leaping Bunny.
Two things that annoy me, are the ad placements, as they are extremely obvious. I wish they would make them a bit more intricate and not as BAM, in your face. Another thing I have actually mentioned to the ladies is, I wish they had more cruelty free/vegan beauty related talks. It's great hearing so many cruelty free brands mentioned on a weekly basis, but the fact that it being cruelty free isn't discussed more, kinda bums me out. Regardless, I enjoy listening to the guests, the ladies and finding out what they are loving and fans of.
If you've seen the show Younger, you might already be familiar with this podcast, or have probably heard of it, as a bunch of guests have posted about their guest appearance in it. Regardless, we're going to chit chat a bit about this open minded podcast on love, sexuality, and labels, to name a few topics. Because of the success of the podcast, Nico Tortorella decided to create a forum on the website, for all his listeners, to discuss the topics of each weeks episode. On it's second season already, Tortorella has had a bunch of people 'he loves' on his series. I actually have a bunch of favorite episodes, so it was hard for me to pick one.
I went with the first episode, in which he discusses his open relationship with Beth Meyers and how their love and relationship has developed and gotten both of them to grow as individuals. I will say, this isn't a podcast for anyone that isn't open minded and doesn't want to hear about Tortorella's sexual relationships with individuals. There is a lot of sexual and mature language, so be warned. With all that said, I feel like I get to know these people on a different level, hearing all about their thoughts on these topics.
So there you have it, my current top 3 podcasts, and honestly the only ones I really listen to anymore. I know there are a BUNCH and I have actually wanted to check out Rachel Brathen's (AKA Yoga_Girl on IG), because she talks about all types of topics and since she's spiritual, I know I'll enjoy it. But I do want to leave you with one special podcast my friend Mullica sent me a while back. This really hit home with me and I often go back to listen to it, because it's super inspirational.
With all that said, what are your favorite podcasts and what do you recommend I listen to?
Had you hear of these prior? And if you check them out, thoughts?
