You read that right! The highly acclaimed and well loved cruelty free and vegan lip gloss, is today's interview guest! If you were a Petit Vour member, you received one of the Marie Natie lip glosses last year and immediately fell in love. Given that I wasn't a lip gloss person, given all the tackiness, I wasn't expecting much. But like so many others, not only was I impressed with the gloss, I immediately fell in love with it. It's become a staple in my every day makeup look.
Marie Natie has a bunch of vegan products within her cruelty free cosmetic line, and I thought it only fitting to get her on the series. With so many bloggers highly speaking of the glosses, what better way to support and show the brand my dedication, than to get everyone who isn't already on board, to jump on the bandwagon. Without further ado, Mary of Marie Natie.
Many cruelty free and vegan bloggers are extremely obsessed with your glosses, how does that make you feel as a creator?
We love hearing positive feedback from bloggers, it makes us look forward to what we do everyday each time we hear a compliment.
With that in mind, we all love it because it's not sticky, or goopy....how did you go about creating it?
It was through lots of testing with different ingredients. We found an ingredient called jojoba gel which was essential in creating a lip gloss that was not sticky.
When you first started, what were the top 3 products you knew you needed to have within your brand?
Lip gloss, eyeliner and eye shadow.
How did the name Marie Natie come to be with the brand, and how does it go along with the cute illustration?
Marie is just a French version of the name Mary and Natie is a cute way to say natural. We wanted an cute illustration that would go along with this name.
What has been your favorite creation thus far?
Definitely our lip gloss, we can’t leave the house without it.
You take customers feedback into consideration, would you ever consider collaborating items with consumers?
Absolutely, we are always looking for different ideas and would love to hear what our customers have to say.
What is one of the best comments/reviews you have ever received and how did it impact you, the brand, and the products?
Over the years, we have received positive reviews from bloggers that review our products and customers that buy our products. It only occurred to us that the brand was going somewhere when big name green beauty bloggers started reviewing and talking about our brand. We were absolutely honored when Kate, who is a well known blogger based in Oslo, Norway, reviewed our products and posted on her blog. Hearing positive feedback gives us more motivation to make the brand bigger and better.
Before creating your own brand, what makers and brands did you constantly support and still admire?
I was always a fan of Tarte and 100% Pure and I still love and use their products.
If an item was to be created to represent you, what would that item be and what would it look like?
I mentioned that I never leave the house without lip gloss and I love natural shades so it would be a soft pink lip gloss that would represent me.
As a cosmetic brand that is luxurious and toxin free, do you find a change and shift in the cosmetic industry becoming more like this?
Definitely, we are seeing more and more brands that are nontoxic and free of harmful chemicals. Even bigger name beauty brands are creating subdivisions of green beauty products under their main brand.
What has been one of the best lessons you have learned in life that has impacted you now?
Letting go at the right time and knowing it’s time to move on, has definitely improved the way I work and productivity.
Let's get more casual, what is one of your favorite things to do on your free time?
Go to the movies and check out a new restaurant in town.
What would your last meal consist of? Food, beverage, dessert....all of it.
I love a good slice of New York style pizza and root beer.
What is one bad habit you can't stop yourself from doing?
Saying yes to too many things.
If there was one thing you could go back in time and change (anything at all), what would you do?
I probably would have chosen different people for projects
Lastly, what shall we expect from the brand this year?
We love our current products but we might add more colors to the each of our collections! Stay tuned!
There you have it, Mary and how she went about becoming one of the most beloved lip gloses in the cruelty free beauty world.
Have you tried the brand? If so, what is your favorite product?
And if you haven't, what are you thinking of picking up? Besides the lip glosses obviously!
