As someone who is gluten free, I am constantly on the hunt for the best new GF brands to try and support. It’s been a tough journey, being vegan and gluten free, but I have made it thanks to a lot of amazing brands. Most of the brands I’ve been introduced to have been because of word of mouth, which is always amazing, since you are getting a one on one recommendation. But lately, I’ve found something even better.
Every year, Enjoy Life has a Gluten Free & Allergen Free expo all throughout the USA. I had the pleasure of being a guest blogger who attended this year. I have wanted to go in the past, but it always conflicted with my schedule, so I was SUPER excited to be able to finally go.
A little background about the expo and the way brands market and then we’ll go straight into my brand features. There were 5 pathways to take down/up, featuring a bunch of different brands, companies, and items. From food, to skincare, to all type of beverages. Each booth sampled items, and disclosed what allergens the items had. Everything is gluten free automatically, but some items had nuts, others had milk, a lot had egg, so each table had the GF expo signage, that disclosed that information.
As I roamed around each isle, I stumbled upon so many amazing brands I hadn’t heard of and some that I often support. So let’s talk all about the amazing brands I loved at this years Gluten Free & AF Expo.
Bom Bom is seriously one of the most UNDERRATED alcoholic beverages in the market. While the Fully Baked isn’t vegan, the Nilli Vanilli is, and it’s the best sweet, vanilla alcholic thing I’ve ever had. It tastes like dessert and I’m a huge fan of them and their products. They are coming out with more vegan stuff next year, but they couldn’t disclose what, so definitely follow them!
If you like chocolate teddy grahams, you NEED these in your life. These are some of the best cookies I’ve ever had. They legit taste just like teddy grahams, but without all the toxic and nasty ingredients. They had 2 other flavors, but this one was hands down my favorite one. I’m a sucker for chocolate.
I’ve been a fan of Saffron Road for the past year and really enjoy their crunchy chickpeas, but these were amazing. I know these type of chips are becoming more and more popular within the past couple months and I’m so into it. I’m a huge chip lover, so to have a healthy alternative, makes me happy.
THIS IS THE BEST PASTA EVER! All caps needed because this was seriously magical. It’s made in Italy, and is the softest gluten free pasta I have ever tried. It’s a bit pricey, so I didn’t get it, but boy do I regret it. Typically GF pasta’s are either too hard, or rubbery, and this one was the perfect ‘normal’ consistency. They were sampling with just olive oil and my mouth waters just thinking about it.
Guys, if you like foccacia and have been wanting to make your own, THIS IS IT! Made with just the gf flour, water, oil, and herbs, this was hands down one of the best pieces of bread my mouth ever did have. They sell on Amazon, but I actually just saw it last week at Wegman’s. I’m so so so happy!
A vegan staple, Munk Pack is definitely a brand I am always supporting. They were sampling their protein cookies and honestly, I’m shocked my favorite was the Coconut White Macadamia. These do NOT taste like protein, seriously taste like one of the most delicious cookies you will ever have. And super soft, if you’re into that.
You’re not vegan if you don’t live off of nut butters. Yum Butter is a new brand to me and I’m super into it. Typically sunflower butter is salty, and has a weird consistency and flavor, but these have sugar and it was amazing and super smooth. I was actually surprised I liked the sunflower one as much as I did. Highly recommend.
Just hanging out with my friend Bob, no big deal! Any vegan or gluten free foodie, LIVES off of Bob’s Red Mill, and for a good reason. The all purpose flour is a staple in my kitchen, and I’ve heard rave reviews when it comes to the egg replacer. I also LOVE their almond flour, but find it super pricey for how small the packaging is.
This was definitely one of my favorite items from the whole convention. If you’re a fan of Crunch bars, you need to try Undercover Quinoa right now! They are sold on Amazon, so free Prime shipping! I love the dark chocolate and sea salt the best. I loved the crunch and that the dark chocolate wasn’t bitter.
I don’t need to introduce this brand, but highly recommend for any gluten free people that haven’t found the right pasta for themselves. This one, to me and Chris’s entire Italian family, tastes the closest to normal pasta at the supermarket. While it does have corn and I try to stay away because there’s no nutritional value, I always buy this pasta over all the others.
Another brand that doesn’t need an introduction, as I’m sure many of you reading this have bought a product from San-J before. With all of their products being GF, it’s so easy to make your favorite Chinese, Thai, and Asian dishes. I struggled at first not knowing about this brand, and once I was introduced, I was hooked. I’m super into the Szechuan spicy hot sauce.
A brand new brand to me and OHMYGAWD! Do you see the VEGAN label? This chocolate was AMAZING. Melt in your mouth, close your eyes and feel like you’re in heaven, chocolate. So many different flavors, and they even have baking morsels that you can use. I will be picking some of these up, because they are divine.
If you’re a fan of Lucy’s cookies, you’ll LOVE these! This married duo was so cute to talk to and they are really passionate about their products due to their child having allergies. They changed their whole diet to protect their child, and ended up with a brand. How amazing is that? I really loved their cookies and need them in my cabinets.
I saved one of the best for last! Rule Breaker is not only GF, but vegan!!! Yes yes yes yes! These are so so so good. I mean, first of all, these have vegan sprinkles. And they are made out of beans. They tastes like a confetti cake pop, but 10000X better. They have a couple flavors, but this one was absolutely my favorite. Actually, this tastes like Party Cake ice cream from Friendly’s. From what I could remember!
The Gluten Free Expo was absolutely a success! I met so many brand owners, got a ton of freebies and was so full from all the samples. I will absolutely go again next year, and look forward to all the new brands I’ll be introduced to.
Have you tried any of these brands? Are you going to add them to your rotation?
PS - Wanna Date was my absolute favorite product of the whole expo! Support Melissa.
