If you had told me, Melissa Gandarinho, 10 years ago, that I would become a lipstick hoarder, I would have laughed at your face. I was never a lipstick person, at all. I was always into makeup, but I loved the diversity and the ability to be artistic with eyeshadows, and never really got into doing the same with my lips. It wasn't until a couple years ago, that I finally got into playing with lip color. At first I was very skeptical on certain colors, but now...I wear them all.
One thing that I have noticed, as I get more and more into lipsticks, is that they get more matte as more brands get into that formula. While I don't mind it necessarily, I don't love it either. I personally prefer more of a satin formula OR, certain matte formula's that still have a slight sheen. I have my favorites, and if you follow me on social media, or have hung out with me, you know which brands/colors I prefer.
With all that said, I've always loved tinted moisturizing chapsticks/lip cremes. I have had chapped lips since I was younger. I used to play trumpet and would have to cover my lips in vaseline, in order to get some sort of moisture back in. I have come to a point in my life now, where I just use certain chapsticks (Ellovi, Bare Bones) but I am always down for brands that come out with TINTED ones.
Front Range Balm contacted me, asking for me to do swatches of her returning lip cremes. The first thing I asked, was if they were vegan? Sara replied they were not, so I told her I would just disclaim that to readers/followers. Alas, Sara completely changed the formula to make them ALL VEGAN. I didn't ask her to do that, but that just goes to show you, some creators REALLY care about their consumers. I think that in itself, says a lot about Sara as a maker, and a caring person in general.
Swatches of the lip cremes are below. The formula is AMAZING, as I'm a huge fan of coconut oil and shea butter in my products, and this is the main reason these work so well with me. Like I said, I have dry lips all the time, these give me moisture while being extremely tinted. It's as if you put lipstick on top of a creamy chapstick. Two thing I want you all to notate, and a disclaimer, because this is such a silky and oily formula, this does melt upon touching your lips, and because of that, it slightly bleeds.
My favorites and the ones I think you DEFINITELY need to pick up are; Foxy, Bronze Goddess (photos don't do it justice), and Rose. My lips are extremely pigmented, but these completely covered my actual lip color, except for Plumalicious and Mysterious Mauve. Still a great 'my lips but better' subtle color to my lips, while giving it necessary oil.
With all of that said, these are releasing this Friday, December 16th, and will retail for $3.50 each. To me, personally, I think that's a steal....not only is it the price of a chapstick, it's better ingredients than most at stores, and it's tinted. It's a win win. Sara is also now selling vegan cuticle balms, and I got a sample of Creme Brulee and OHMYGAWD, wow! Not only does it smell phenomenal, it is seriously buttteeerrrr on my cuticles. Especially during this winter.
Let me know what you end up getting, and definitely give Sara some color recommendations in the comments section for future releases!
