Yes, yes I am doing the cliche favorites post, every beauty blogger does. But I mean, how could I not? Not only did I start my site and IG account this year, I really delved into the indie and cruelty free world with my products. I tried so many different brands and products, and I want to be able to tell you, what's worth the money. I'm not trying to make money, I'm not trying to lie to you, I'm truthfully and honestly, telling you what I truly love.
2016 has been a great year, and I have a lot to show for it. I am hoping 2017 only brings me more joy, and continues to allow me to bring you guys honest and truthful reviews and recommendations. I truly love doing this, and hope you guys are enjoying it as much as I am.
Affiliate links will be *, but most links will send you to my Meet The Maker posts, with the brands I've worked with this year and some reviews.
Let's get started.
Osea Ocean Cleanser and Lotion• - If you have been a reader since I started my blog, then you know these products exceeded my expectations. I tried them because they were being hyped up a lot in the cruelty free community, and I can actually attest to those claims. This cleanser is the best cleanser I have ever tried, and I've tried a lot. The reason I knew this was the one, was after it breaking in the shower, I went without it for about a month, and my skin completely freaked out. Once I got the cleanser back, my skin cleared up again. The lotion is perfect for me in the summer. It is a great consistency, really moisturizes the skin and mattes my skin out, in the hot summer days.
Pinrose Scent Sampler - As someone who has loved Harvey Prince for over a year, getting into another perfume brand wasn't on the table. But I had $20 off and a $10 gift card to Sephora, so I figured $30 for this set was too good to pass up. And I'm so glad I got this set. It's amazing. All the smells are so unique on their own and they aren't kidding when they say mixing them is the perfect way to use them. My favorite combo's so far are; Merry Maker & Pinrose, Tambourine Dreams & Cuddle Punk and Secret Genius with Gilded Fox. I'm getting Secret Genius in a full size!
Loquita Bath & Body Flan Scrub - OHHHHH MYY GOODNESS!!! I tried a bunch of scrubs this past year, and I loved a good majority of them. I've featured them on the site and my IG, but this scrub changed my bath time. Not only does it smell impeccable, it really gives my skin the exfoliation and moisture it needs. I got the flan one as a sample, and really took forever to use it because I loved it so much and didn't want it to end. I finally bought it in a full size, and can't wait until it gets here. It's my favorite of the year. It's not pictured above, because I haven't got my re-buy yet. But trust me, you need one of her scrubs in your life.
SoCo Dry Shampoo - I tried a lot of items from this brand this past year, as I got introduced to them in 2016. I loved pretty much all of the items I've tried, from the perfumes, to the body srub. The dry shampoo though, is my favorite. It comes tinted, so that works out really well for me, because I hate the white cast dry shampoo's leave, and it smells so phenomenal. It has cocoa, so I automatically knew I'd love it. I don't want to use this all up, because she doesn't sell it anymore, and that really bums me out. I hope she brings this item back, because it's a must have in my life.
Pacifica Dream Big Mascara - This was a game changer this year. It's really hard for me to find a cruelty free/vegan mascara, that does what the Urban Decay Perversion mascara did. I am so happy to say I finally found my drugstore mascara. This amazing thing has the option of changing the wand. You can pick volume or length, and I do both. I'm someone who let's their mascara dry a bit before using, but I didn't have an issue with this at all. I have 2 mascara's to use up, but I will be making sure this is constantly in my collection.
100% Pure BB Cream* - This BB cream changed everything for me this year. When I went to the Veggie Fest in NY this year, they had the brand selling items, at a discount. I'm not a foundation person, so I splurged and got this item. I can't begin to tell you how much I love this product, ESPECIALLY during the winter right now. The coverage is light, but buildable, it smells like lavender, works well with fingers or the Furless brush, and leaves a dewy finish. I also feel like it helps with redness, because whenever I take it off, my skin looks refreshed. I've gotten so many people into this already, and they have thanked me. So...you're welcome.
S.W. Basics Serum - Now, this should come as NO surprise to any of my readers or followers. This is hands down my favorite product of the year. This changed my skincare completely. I have noticed a difference not using this, and using another serum oil at night. Not in a bad way, the other one is great, but this one if LIFE CHANGING. I can't emphasize enough how amazing this product is. I even use the extra from my face, on the ends of my hair, and on my hands, cuticles and nails. This product is a multi tasker, and worth the money. It lasted me an entire year, and I used it religiously. Trust me, you need this in your life.
Wet N Wild Brow Mascara - Another item that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that reads my posts, and that has been following me this year. I have gotten a ton of people into this item as well, and it's for a good reason. I don't have much I need to fill in with my brows, but I do have ones that don't stay in place. This tinted gel is perfect...it's not crunchy, it holds my brows in place, and fills the sparse area's completely. I have gone through 2 of these already, and hope they never get rid of this. I can't do my makeup without this item. Pick it up, try it and then let me know your thoughts.
Ofra Liquid Lipsticks - I have tried a lot of liquid lipsticks this year, and I have fell in love with about 3 different brands, but this one...this one started it all. These are hands down the best liquid lipsticks I have ever tried. The formula is smooth, smells really nice, and doesn't dry out my lips. These are more of a satin finish, but I don't mind that because they really are lovely. They do come off a bit when I eat oily foods, but again, I don't mind re-applying, as they don't crumble or give me issues. I have so many of them, and I had to stop buying them because I don't NEED them all. Hoarder problems. Have you tried these?
Jord Wood Watches - I was so lucky to be working with this brand this year. I have linked my final review of the watch, but believe me when I tell you, this is my favorite watch I have ever owned. I have always been a watch lover, I know...weird, but ask my mom. I used to always wear a watch, as it was the only accessory I was really into growing up as a tomboy. I got to choose the watch, and I am so happy with the one I chose. I am actually planning on getting another one, as I don't wear brown all the time, so I want something more cool toned. Even my bf loves the watch, and they are definitely unisex. I know they are always having contests with bloggers, so follow them on social media to get some cash credit to make a purchase.
Michael Todd Epilady - I have linked my review of this item, and believe me when I tell you, it's a good review. I am someone who is extremely lazy, and shaving all the time was so obnoxious and annoying. The epilady has seriously changed the game for me, as I only remove my hair once in a while, because the growth is minimal and slow. It does have a little pain, but you get used to it the more you use it. The only problem I seem to have with my underarms, is that I get ingrown hairs, but I've been sing the European Wax Center in grown serum and I exfoliate, and it's made a huge difference. I know there are other brands that have this type of item, but this is the brand I have loved so far.
Derma E Charcoal Mask - Last item of the year goes out to this bad boy. I kept seeing people rave about it, and I know charcoal is amazing on my skin, as it really pulls the impurities, but I didn't feel like spending the cash for this. Well, it's safe to say it's well worth it. I would happily spend $20 on this again. It really does vacuum all the impurities out, and doesn't dry out my skin tremendously. I do make sure to put back it's moisture when I'm done with it, whether it be a mask that does that, or my nightly serum/oil. I know that you can just buy charcoal powder and make your own masks, but I feel like they are too drying and harsh on my skin. This wasn't. Plus, I love the exfoliation part when I go to remove the mask.
There you have it, my favorites of 2016. There were so many other items I wanted to mention, but honestly, the post would have been too long. If you follow me on my IG account, then you know what items I have been loving throughout the year.
I am going to be doing a nail polish/product favorites of 2016 separately, so be on the lookout for that one!
