Once upon a time, I didn't know anything about face masks. Better yet, I didn't know what I was missing. Many people don't like face masks and find them tedious and lackluster. When I first started, I felt the same, but that's because I wasn't using the right ones. Not until I started realizing what my skin care problems were, did I know what face masks to use.
Some of these are experimental ones right now, and others are holy grails. I'm going to break them down, give my thoughts, and thorough review.
Mask Of Magnaminty from Lush has been my favorite face mask for YEARS!!! It helps my breakouts tremendously around that time of the month, and in general. I love the way it smells and feels....it's minty and definitely tingles. The new self preserve version isn't as good as the original version, to be honest, but it still works wonders. If you have break outs, and redness, this mask is for you!
Purifying 2 in 1 Charcoal Mask from Derma E is so hyped up in the cruelty free/vegan world, I finally bought it when I was gifted a $20 gift card. I thought the price for the size was ridiculous, and that's why I hadn't gotten it previously. Alas, I got it, tried it and I am absolutely IN LOVE! Wow, this mask is absolutely amazing. Charcoal is great for pulling out impurrities and this does just that. I especially love when I go to take it off, I use it as a scrub to really clean out my skin.
Hibbiscus Mask from S.W. Basics is absolutely one of my favorites and I always recommend it. When I first used it, I didn't notice anything different. AND THEN, I used it again the next day, and my skin was GLOWING. I kid you not. This helps so so so much with skin discoloration and helps detoxify, exfoliate and calm the skin. I've been meaning to try this as a face scrub. Side note, this does leave your skin a bit tinted after washing off, so use at night.
Black Algae Mask from Osea is a pricey, pricey face mask. I contemplated it for a while, and ended up buying it when they had a deal. I spoke to the actual person in the chat, and was recommended this one in particular with my skin type. This one brightens and exfoliates the skin. I honestly am not in love with this mask at all. I think it's over hyped tremendously and isn't worth the money. Maybe it's just not the right one for me, but I won't be spending that much money on it again.
Herbal Hydration Complex Mask from Farmaesthics was a mask I received in my Pearlesque Box last month. The first time I used it, I stated that it wasn't for me, because it's a mask to put back moisture into the skin. With that said, it's definitely going to be a mask I enjoy in the winter. Now that it's summer, my skin isn't the dry type, so I haven't used it again. It's supposed to be good for a sun burn on the face, and I will definitely need to try it, if I get sunburned. The face mask itself is slippery, and doesn't dry.
Wild Flower Mud Mask from Plant Makeup is hard to explain. I'm still trying to figure out how to use it accurately, since every time I put it on, I feel like I don't use enough powder for my entire face. The first thing I noticed was that it dried extremely fast, and made me feel like 10 minutes was too long. Once I go to remove it, I actually use it as a scrub. My skin does feel smoother, and I do feel like it's doing something, just not sure what it's doing.
Charcoal Detox Mask from Michael Todd was received as a sample with my Epilator order. A charcoal mask is an automatic win for me. I put this on, and the smell was a little off putting, which is strange since most of my stuff is natural and often smells herbal. But I digress. I tried the mask and it was like a serum consistency, didn't dry. I wiped it off and my skin was very smooth. Did I see instant results, of course not....but I'll keep using the mask and see how it ends up working out in the long run.
So there you have it....my current face masks. I have a trend with them, if you didn't notice...charcoal masks are my favorite. I love how it pulls out all the impurities and makes my skin feel clean. I don't have a lot of black heads, but I do get these tiny black heads here and there on my skin, and charcoal masks help pull them out.
If you have tried these, please let me know what your thoughts were.
Lastly, what are your favorite cruelty free/vegan face masks?
