I haven't been a consumer of Drip Drop Nail Paint for long, as these two are the only ones I currently own and my first, but they are surely not my last. I had seen Drip Drop constantly through Alison from Candied Apple Polish, who has already been featured on my Meet The Maker series. I can't believe it took me this long to become a customer, but I'm glad I finally caved.
Without further ado, let's get to know the lovely Jessica of Drip Drop Nail Paint.
Introduce a little bit about yourself before we get into some random questions.
I'm Jess, from Drip Drop. I'm a mom of 2 kids, ages 11 and 4. Summer break just started, so I'm sure life is going to be a whole lot of crazy for the next couple of months. Swimming, camping, sleepovers, etc.
Where did the name Drip Drop come from and do you think it suits your polishes and personality?
Drip drop was actually my 3rd choice. The first 2, I thought I loved, but I was drinking coffee one morning and I heard dripping and it was driving me bonkers! It was my kitchen sink and it got stuck in my head.... drip drop drip drop (you know, enough to drive a person nuts!?) Then, a light bulb went off and I loved the sound of it, how it rolls off the tongue. Plus it's quirky, which is totally me. Nailpaint is because I've always called it that... lip paint, face paint, nail paint. :)
What are your favorite polishes to make and what has been the most popular so far?
Oh gosh, my favorite part of the process is experimenting with color combinations, glitter combinations, finishes, opaqueness. I love mixing up glitter bombs, but I'd say my glitter crellies are my best sellers.
Can you explain how you and Alison have gotten so close? Was it the indie world that brought you together?
I had a quick question about a supply, I think, and decided to ask her. We just started gabbing back and forth and decided to collab. The Candy Drop duo was born and we are approaching our 2 year anniversary (sneak peeks are up on both IG accounts)!! Just two peas in a pod. I definitely consider her a dear friend. We clicked almost immediately.
On your free time, what do you like to do?
Read, paint my nails, visit family, hang with the kids, gym, eat, spontaneous day trips to wherever.
As a polish maker, how many polishes in your private collection, do you have? What is your favorite polish and the brand you have the most of?
I counted a few months ago and had close to 800. Probably rounding out to about 900 now. Not as large as people expected. I haven't bought mainstream or drug store polishes in a very long time. My favorite brand and largest collection is Candied Apple Polish. No surprise there! I love her glitter combinations so much.
If you could be an animated character in any film/cartoon show, who would you be, and why?
Hmmm - too hard. Gahhhhhh - I've thought about this question wayyyyy too many days. DAYS! (Lame, right?) So for fun, I'll say Jessica Rabbit lol - I love the movie and to have curves like her! Wowza! Plus her name isn't too shabby! ;-) Bahahaha (3rd beer for my final answer).
Give me 3 words you think best describe you.
Spontaneous, quirky, procrastinator :) - I think they're all relative to the creative process.
If you could eat only one thing for the rest of your life, what would that be? Beverage of choice?
Pasta and/or potatoes (weird?) I just love them both so much! And fries! Lol
Coffee/water/vodka w/OJ ;-)
Have you ever read a book, watched a movie or saw a television show that changed your life? If so, explain.
Yes, plenty. Without sounding preachy......lots of documentaries. I am now an ethical vegan.
Lastly, share some favorite indie shops.
Pipe Dream Polish, Glisten & Glow, CAP, Envy, ALL the indies!
I got to meet Jill from Glisten & Glow, as well as some other fantastic makers at the indie shop event. Bliss, Envy, Lolita, Cupcake, NVR Enuff, Poetry Cowgirl, Painted Polish and many more! I owned a few of their polishes, but now that I've met them, they'll definitely be on my radar more often. (Oh, to buy allllll the polishes
So there you have it! Jessica is a vegan, who only creates and sells vegan and cruelty free polishes, and lives that lifestyle. Of course I connected immediately with her and was beyond ecstatic to share her answers with my readers. I mean...don't you just want to pinch her cheeks after reading that? No? OK....well then go buy some polishes from her shop!
