Today I have the pleasure of featuring Alison from Candied Apple Polish. This is a special one for me because my first indie polish purchase ever, were 3 mystery apples. If you don't know what a mystery apple is, it's batches of polishes Alison doesn't end up having sold in her shop, they are technically prototypes and experiments.
As you can see, I love my Candied Apple Polishes and this is currently one of the brands I own the most of. Alison's crellies are divine and the formula is one of my favorites. With all that said, let's get to know Alison a little better.
Let's just start this off with your thoughts on being my first indie polish purchase. DO you know of any other firsts?
I am always beyond honored when I am someone's first experience. It makes me so happy to know that something I am doing would encourage you to try the wonderful world of indie polish. I know that there have been other firsts and it really means so much to me every single time someone says I was their first!
How long have you been creating apple and how has the journey been for you?
I have been making polish for about 3 years now but didn't open my shop until March of 2014. This journey has been so humbling and wonderful. When I first started out I just thought "Even if one person buys from me I will be happy." The love and support that I have been shown over the past few years never ceases to amaze me, I have been so blessed and I have all of my customers to thank for that.
What has been your favorite creation thus far and was it as loved by others, as it was by you?
I have a lot of favorites! I think that my absolute all time favorite is "a spot of..." since it was part of a candy drop duo it sold out quickly so with limited edition it is always harder to really gauge how much appreciation that actual polish would have received more long term.
I've noticed you and Drip Drop are pretty close, besides that brand, what are some of your other favorite brands to support and use?
Yes! Jessica from Drip Drop is my glittery partner in polish and I just adore her and all of her creations, drip drops are a must have in my opinion. This indie world is filled with so many amazing people. I have so many favorite brands that it will be hard to narrow down but the shops that I personally buy from the most frequently are Noodles Nail Polish, Bliss Polish (Yvette was actually my second Indie polish purchase ever way back), Mango Bunny Polish and My Dream Polish.
If someone was to create a nail polish to reflect your personality, what would that polish consist o
I really hope it would be colorful and full of glitter!
How many polishes do you have in your collection at the moment? And what is your favorite one? Or top 3.
My most recent collection was my spring collection. It consisted of 5 polishes and my favorite is "Frozen Concoctions" I feel like it is a tricky polish to photograph but in real life it make me feel like I'm swimming in a sea of sparkles. I have been pretty much wearing it since I made it and it is currently on my toes!
You are known as the glitter crelly polish queen (by me and others, I've asked around), how does that make you feel?
That makes me feel warm and fuzzy! I am just happy that others enjoy my creations as much as I do. I think of each polish as a little piece of my own personal artwork and whenever I see customers loving them it makes me so happy.
What indie and Etsy shops are on your list of things to try?
I have always wanted to try Heather's Hues and Pahlish.
What is your favorite scent? Favorite beverage of choice? Favorite junk food?
My favorite scent is Peppermint! My favorite beverage is water, boring but true lol. My favorite junk foods are reese's peanut butter cups and doritos!
Alison currently has some polishes in her shop, so click the photo to get directly sent to her shop. She has one perfect for the 4th of July respectable named, Because Of The Brave.
Do you own any Candied Apple Polishes? If you do, what's your favorite and which ones are you bummed you missed out on? Mine is Warm Georgia Peach! Can't wait to put it on this summer.
