2016 Best In Nail Polish

It's not a Melissa favorites, unless I mention nail polishes...and let's be honest, I'm a nail polish junkie. This year I really really REALLY got into the indie world, and I have never looked back. I have had the pleasure of getting you guys into certain brands, and getting to know the makers behind them. I have loved supporting so many brands and absolutely want to share my favorites throughout this past year.

All of these polishes, except one, are on my IG account, so please check there for swatches if you are curious on what they look like. Also, please note that a majority of these are no longer available, as in the indie polish world, you need to be quick on your feet with polish releases. I know it's probably a dick move on my part, because you won't be able to get it, but I still want to share my 16 favorites and the brands in general, so that you could get into them.

Here we goo....weeeeeeee. (all shops linked, some are currently closed)

We are starting with the BEST brand I was introduced to this year, Supernatural Lacquer. Anyone that follows me on IG, already knows that this is my favorite nail polish brand of all time. Everything Stefanie creates is magical and honestly, I would restart my entire collection just to have all her polishes. Regardless of being late to the bandwagon, I have collected a bunch of her polishes, in particular, my favorite ones above. The only one that wasn't limited edition is Purple Nurpled, which is the FIRST polish I tried from the brand, and I was hooked after that.

If you haven't tried the brand yet, you are seriously missing out....as I write this, I am wearing one of her polishes. The best formula EVER and a flakie genius. Lastly, acetone additives have become a ritual for me. For those that don't know what that is, it's an additive that you put in your nail polish remover (acetone), and it scents it, so you don't get that nasty, strong and stingy smell bothering you. Stefanie makes some seriously amazing scents, and I use acetone more now, just so I can play with the scents.

NVR Enuff was such a HARD brand to get into this year. The brand is ALWAYS sold out, and I could never get my hands on their polishes. The reason I got into them was because of one nail polish swatcher in particular, Jolyn (linked). Her collection, swatches and overall showcase of the brand, is what finally intrigued me enough to join the FB group. And I'm so glad I did. Because of joining the group, I finally was able to grab polishes during re-stocks. Let me tell you, this formula is hands down my second favorite formula of the year.

They are very much into holo polishes, which I'm always into, but they have a way of really combining holo with the entire rainbow. I have a bunch of favorites, but these 2 were the ones that really had my heart this year. I'm looking forward to continuing to support this brand and the magical polishes they create.

A brand that JUST started this year and came out with an OUTSTANDING collection and customer service. I had some struggles with the formula on the first collection, and even told Taryn, but it doesn't matter because I honestly change my polish every 3-4 days. With that said, the first collection was a must have for me, and I actually got the whole thing. But the real winner with Anchor & Heart Lacquer is the sunken treasures. Sunken treasures are prototype polishes Taryn doesn't release into the collection, therefor she sells them as mysteries. I have a bunch, and really loved 3 in particular, but only shared one for this post.

Taryn is extremely into customer service and is a huge fan of her customers. Because of that, she is constantly doing naming contests, giveaways and asking for inspiration for group polishes. Dancing In The Meadow was a part of her 4 piece FB fan group collection. She took the customers feedback and really put love into her creations. Plus, she kills it at packaging.

WOW! I have so many great things to say about this brand, and I honestly don't know where to start. If it wasn't for Supernatural Lacquer having so many favorites, Polish M would have. I had to stop myself from sharing so many of the polishes from Michelle. This was the second indie brand I got into, and it's still one of my favorites. The 2 polishes above were the ones I loved the most this year, and actually debated repeating. Michelle's formula is IMPECCABLE. Seriously. I have never had any issues with her formula, as it's smooth, doesn't chip, and doesn't stain.

One of my favorite things about Polish M is that Michelle comes out with such eccentric polishes. Colors and mixes I've never seen or thought of. I often get bored with the indie polish world because it get's repetitive, but Michelle always finds a way to be different. Another reason I love this brand so much, is the cuticle oil. MY GOODNESS. I'm addicted to the Lemon Pound Cake one the most, and plan on buying more to put in my collection, but they really are nourishing, smell phenomenal, and help the growth of my nails. Plus, they make my cuticles look bomb.

Lastly, we have he miscellaneous category, because there were some brands, that although didn't make it within a category themselves, really impressed me with certain items.

Darling Diva is a new brand to me, but after this polish, I was hooked and I'm definitely planning on getting more. The reason Andromeda made it on this list, is because it's a dupe for Supernatural Lacquer's Demon Blood Junkie, which many people know is my biggest lemming. Not only that, but the formula is seriously outstanding. I didn't know what to expect from this brand, but this polish lasted an entire week on my nails and I did NOT want to take it off.

Illyrian Polish was a brand that I grew a collection with, thanks to the For The Love Of Polish box. But it wasn't until the Stranger Things collection, that I KNEW I needed a certain polish. Eleven had me at first site, and let's be honest....yes, that happens a lot, but it's not every day, I automatically have to buy it. It was the circle glitters that shift colors, that really got me and I'm so glad. Formula is good, never had any issues, but some of her polishes DO stain. So just be aware of that.

Frenzy Polish had a whirl wind of a year. The shop was going to close and did a blowout sale, which is when I bought some polishes, and then decided to stay open, per customers request. I only bought 2, because I didn't know how the formula was, but it's safe to say, if it wasn't for her closing down, I would absolutely be a consumer. Formula was smooth as  hell and the polish lasted a week on my nails. This color in particular was absolutely stunning and the mix of teal with gold is just perfection.

Drip Drop Nail Paint was a brand I actually got to work with this year. Jess sent me the entire new collection, after she re-did her shop. I had 3 favorites from that collection, but in the end, there was ONE polish from her that I needed to mention. Full Moon is the white nail polish I've always wanted. It's not watery, or slippery when applying, it's not sheer upon first applying and it has silver flakes in it, that seriously make it look like snow. It's perfection in a bottle.

Front Range Balm cuticle balm is BOMB AS HELL! Now, I was never into the balm's, 1. because they are rarely vegan and 2, they are usually too oily or too stiff. After getting this as a sample when I received the lip cremes, I automatically tried it and fell totally in love. By now, you know I love the Polish M cuticle oil, but this one is just as good, and not as oily (obviously since it's not a straight up oil). My favorite part is that I was sent the creme brulee scent, which is my favorite desert.

An honorable mention is the mani bombs from Lolita Lacquer, as I was introduced to the brand thanks to one of Supernatural Lacquer's sub boxes. Prior to this brand, I was using Forever Polished, which closed down, so I'm stoked I found a brand to replace that. The mani bombs are awesome, they fiz perfectly, moisturize the nails just enough and smell amazing. Another item I have gotten a lot of people into. You're welcome.

So there you have it, my 2016 favorite nail polishes, brands and misc items for nail care. It's been a great year for me when it came to the indie polish world.

I also have Meet The Makers with 5 of the brands mentioned today, so absolutely check them out, I will have them linked below.
