The Cruelty Free Tag

Following the trend, Erin of Cruelty Free Goddess (linked) and Nicole of Reasonable Raven (linked), have recently posted their answers to The Cruelty Free Tag. I figured it would be a fun post to put up, in case anyone wonders what my go-to's are. And possibly even help you, with recommending my favorites in each category.

Let's get to it.

What is your favorite cruelty-free face product?

In the summer I rarely wear makeup, I only put blush, highlighter, brow mascara and mascara on. With that said, the brow mascara is a recent discovery, and I can't imagine not using it on a daily basis now. My eyebrows are pretty nice in general, but the Wet N Wild Brow Mascara just fills it in and keeps it in place. It makes my eyebrows 100X nicer. I always recommend this to my friends and family. Can't be without it.

What is your favorite cruelty-free eye product?

Again, I don't wear makeup in the summer, but in the winter I do go all out with my eyeshadow. With that said, I'm going to have to say the Wet N Wild Eyeshadow Primer. Prior to this one, I used the Too Faced one, but it didn't make my ColourPop eyeshadows last, and they would crease. This primer is seriously bomb.

What is your favorite cruelty-free lip product?

This is a tough one, because despite not wearing makeup in the summer, I do spruce up my face with lipsticks or tinted balms. My FAVORITE in my collection hands down goes to Fairy Girl lipstick in Sabrina. This is a stunning shade and I wear it the most out of all my lipsticks. Second goes to ColourPop lippie stick in Contempo.

What is your favorite cruelty-free skincare product?

This is a hard one for me, because growing up with bad acne, it's taken me a long time to get to a point where not only do I rarely break out, but I've been told I look 10 years younger than I really am. Skincare has been a viral part of that, so hands down, my favorite cruelty-free skincare product will go to the S.W. Basics Serum. I have seriously noticed amazing changes since I started using it, and will continue to purchase it. I think that throughout my entire skincare journey, this has been my favorite product.

What is your favorite cruelty-free body care product?

This is another tough question because it can include scrubs, soaps, lotions...etc. I've gotten really into handmade soaps lately, and continue to buy them over store brand body washes/soaps. But my favorite discovery has been Southern Comforts body scrub in Mama Tried. Oh my. It's seriously my favorite body scrub ever. Prior to that, I loved Lush's Ocean Salt. This one is finer, sweeter and silkier. Also, doesn't strip away my skin. Love it.

What is your favorite cruelty-free perfume?

If you know me or have been following me for some time now, you know that I am completely OBSESSED with Harvey Prince perfumes. Actually, obsessed might not even cut it. I have so many of their perfumes, that it's getting ridiculous. My #1 though, Eu So Divine, hands down!

What is your favorite cruelty-free nail polish?

This is like asking me who my favorite child is....even though I don't have children and there is ALWAYS a favorite. But if you know me, you know I have over 200 nail polishes, with an extensive amount of different brands. With that said, I'm going to say my mainstream favorite and my indie favorite.

Mainstream hands down goes to Zoya. It's the brand that stayed in my collection when I went cruelty free and their polishes are amazing. There is no mainstream brand that does what they do.

Indie goes to Supernatural Lacquer, which should come as NO surprise to my friends, family and followers on IG, since it's usually the brand I buy, and use. It's the brand I own the most of, and honestly, I have debated destashing all my polishes and just owning hers.

Would you give away/throw out products that aren't cruelty free?

When I first went cruelty free, it was really hard letting go of some products that I loved, that tested. So I finished them out and tried to find dupes or products that were even better. The one thing I've had a problem with and I'm torn on the situation, is companies that are cruelty free, but are owned by companies that do test. I'm going to be doing a post on this soon. Be on the look out.

Which brand, that isn't cruelty free, do you miss the most and why?

I don't really think that I miss any of them to be honest. With the indie market getting so big, and natural/cruelty free skincare and makeup brands getting into more stores, it's easier now than ever, to buy products like any other brand. Plus - to be honest, prior to going cruelty free, a majority of the products I owned and used, weren't tested on animals.

So there you have favorites, broken down, to hopefully help you out in any way. I think the point I seemed to have made with this tag, without noticing until now, is that being cruelty free really is simple.

People seem to believe it's more money, or that it's inconvenient and difficult to find brands that don't test....but they are sold at Sephora, Target, Ulta, Wholefoods, Trader Joe's, drugstores....etc. And a good majority of them are actually cheaper than most drugstore brands. EX; Wet N Wild, Jordana, Milani

A Month In Review - July Favorites

I didn't do a favorites last month, because I haven't really been using many new products. That, and the fact that I pretty much share any new discoveries on the site or my IG account. With that said, I did have a pretty good month of July with products and wanted to share my favorites.

There is no theme with this, and's definitely scattered, but that's how life is.

Here are my favorites overall, from the month of July.

I haven't been wearing much makeup, since I'm tan, and don't really feel the need to, but I do have a habit of putting blush and brow mascara regardless. With that said, this is my FAVORITE blush in the summer, with my tan skin. It's the perfect bronzed/rose cheek color, and suits my olive skin ton perfectly. I rarely use other blushes in the summer, because this one is so perfect. Plus, it's so inexpensive and lasts all day. (ELF Baked Blush in Rich Rose)

I've been a huge fan of African Black Soap for some time now. I suffer from a mild case of back acne when I work out. Everyone's no big deal. I finally picked up the bar from Nubian, which I hadn't tried before, but I have sampled the body lotion and really really love it. Well, it goes without saying, I love the soap. The main reason I love it is that it actually doesn't dry out my skin. Too often with African Black Soap, you're skin is extremely dried out, since that's how it get's rid of the acne. But this one....nope, it works really well without stripping you.

Within the past couple years, I haven't really been tan, but I am someone who tans really well. Thankful for my olive complexion. I did get burned earlier this summer because of the music festival, but the few times I've been to the beach this summer, I've gotten more color. A huge reasoning for that, besides the sun obviously, has been the Hang Ten Tanning Oil. I know what you're thinking....that's a really low SPF, trust me, I put suntan lotion as well, right next to the oil in the photo. But alas, thanks to this gem, I got extremely bronzed the last time I was under the sun. Just like a Greek goddess.

I recently posted about my face mask collection and a new one to my collection that I have seriously become obsessed with is, Derma-e's face mask. Oh my I love this so much and I think it's so well worth the money. I know that I can just buy the Aztec clay and make a similar mask myself, and I probably eventually will, but in general, this mask really helped pull out impurities.

I don't often share a nail polish favorite, because I tend to change my polish 2-3 times a week. But this month I was blessed to be the owner of Supernatural Lacquer's polish in Heliosphere. Now, the reason I say I was blessed is because this was a limited polish to a nail polish box, and I got someone to sell it to me. This is a lemming for many people, and I totally get why. I will NEVER part with this polish, ever. It's probably my favorite polish Stef has created.

Not beauty whole family is in Portugal right now, which means I don't have the pleasure of having my mom spoil me with lunch and dinner. I took it upon myself to finally buy some Amy's dishes, since there are a ton of vegan AND gluten free one's. I went a little crazy, but have seriously fell in love with these two in particular. I'm hoping I don't get sick of them, so I've ventured and bought other dishes to test out the waters....but these 2, oh man, they have my heart.

Last favorite of the month, and also not beauty related is Stranger Things. Now, many of you that check out my Beauty & Lifestyle section, don't often venture to the Music section, but if you have, you've noticed I posted about the music from this show. That alone is a favorite, but the show in general is a masterpiece. This is by far Netflix's best creation. I have nothing negative to say about it, besides the fact that it was only 8 episodes. I can't wait for the next season, and to see what happens to Will and 11.

There you have it, my monthly favorites. There aren't many, but the ones that are featured, have really made an impact on my month and year.

Have you tried any of the items I mentioned? If you have, what are your thoughts?

Have you seen Stranger Things? Let me know your thoughts about the show and check out the music post!
